Ried

WIELITSCHBERG

Gewürztraminer

Loud and quiet simultaneously. The first impression is lush with classical rose petals, spices, and tropical fruit aromas. Followed by a sip-by-sip experience of ever-growing nuances, minerality, and complexity. Refreshingly dry, with precise acidity and a salty aftermath.

Finishing the “vineyard-triangle” with “Zieregg” and “Grassnitzberg”, Ried “Wielitschberg” lays on 410 m above sea level. The hill is influenced by the majestic coralline limestone reef leading to a mix of sparse coral marl and cool clay soils.

The vineyard is opened towards the West, making it the warmest single vineyard in the village of Ehrenhausen. A combination made in heaven for well balanced and characteristic Traminer.

After natural fermentation 22 months maturation sur lie in stainless steel tank and neural oak barrel. Bottled unfiltered.

Ageing potential 15 years and longer.

Our Standards

More than 15 years ago we started taking the first steps towards organic farming. We are now in the phase to convert to biodynamics. A logical step for us and a beginning without end. Every year we learn something new, observe nature and get closer to it bit by bit. We see our business as a form of modern circular economy in which wine is part of an overall concept. Partnerships with horse and cattle farmers have just as much space here as the use of the company’s own forest for energy production. Wine as a way of life.
